Finding a Wedding Venue in Malta
Malta has an amazingly varied Mediterranean coastline of long beaches, tiny coves and plenty of places to explore. The Blue Grotto and caves are just one attraction on an island that is compact enough to be easily explored on a short stay.
The small Island of Gozo is reached by ferry and is more green and lush than the mainland, and much quieter.
Le Meridien Phoenicia, Valetta
Located by the harbour in Valetta, this long established 5 star hotel, with its luxurious classical decor, is noted for its friendliness and service.
It also has an incomparably romantic venue for weddings, beside the Bastion Pool, with a backdrop of the old city walls. An in house wedding planner will not only help with the reception but will deal with most of the paperwork for you also.
A deluxe suite, overlooking the Harbour and the Old City will make the perfect retreat as your wedding day draws to a close.
The Westin Dragonara Resort
This is a large luxury hotel - there are almost 400 rooms - situated on its own private peninsula in St Julian’s, an exclusive area of Malta. While private and secluded the hotel is close to transport and to shopping areas.
This really is the place to go in Malta if you are planning on having a good number of guests attending your wedding. There is a wide choice of venues and an extremely helpful in-house wedding coordinator to assist with your plans.
The bridal suite is large and luxurious and has its own private terrace which is not overlooked and has fabulous sea views as well as a Jacuzzi for two.
Victoria Hotel, Sliema
Sliema, just 5km from Valetta, has been a favoured coastal resort for hundreds of years and still has some of the smartest restaurants on the Island.
The Victoria, right on the coast, is something of a wedding specialist and has a range of great venues, including a poolside terrace and a rooftop terrace with magnificent views.
The main hotel is beautifully decorated, with large bedrooms and excellent service. Close by is the wonderful Palazzo Capua, former palace of Kings and Princes, where the 5 ultra luxurious suites make magical accommodation for a small wedding party.
The Xara Palace, Mdina
Built right into the walls of the beautiful and historical city of Mdina, this is a small family run hotel in a meticulously restored 17th century palace.
There are just 17 bedrooms, each one completely different and individual but all beautifully appointed with very luxurious bedrooms. A suite with its own entrance and flower filled courtyard, private terrace with magnificent views and spacious rooms is perfect for your wedding night.
There are lovely reception rooms available for anything from 10-30 guests and the hotel is renowned for the quality of its cuisine, so a real treat awaits you and your guests whether you choose a light buffet or a formal sit down meal.
Kempinski Hotel, Gozo
An exclusive resort surrounded by sub tropical gardens on the lovely island of Gozo, the Kempinski is a modern hotel built in traditional Maltese style using local limestone.
Inside the decor is light and modern but with classic Mediterranean style and colours throughout. The spacious bedrooms with their cool stone walls are beautifully furnished and equipped.
There is a very highly regarded spa, with Ayurveda, Marine and herbal care, massages, Balneo baths and Vichy water showers among the delights on offer.
The Kapella Room with its high stone arches resembles a medieval banqueting hall and along with its adjoining terrace is a wonderful location for an elegant wedding.
Alternative to Hotels
The Palazzo Parisio
A privately owned Palazzo built in 1733 in the picturesque village of Naxxar the Palazzo Parisio takes opulence and splendour to levels you may not even have imagined.
There are several rooms available for wedding groups of 20 to over 100, or you can hold your ceremony and reception in the magnificent gardens.
Assistance is provided with locating caterers and other wedding vendors and the Palazzo is regularly used as a 'wedding hall' for local weddings.
No accommodation is available at the Palazzo and there is little local accommodation, but Naxxar is close enough to Valletta for the wedding party to stay there.
