General Information about Gibraltar

Covering just 6.5 sq kilometres, Gibraltar is a tiny place and is not, contrary to what many people believe, an island but an peninsula. Its land border with Spain is at La Linea and it is possible to walk over the border and see Gibraltar while leaving your car parked in Spain!

The population is a mix of native Gibraltarians, British, Moroccans, Indians and Spanish, and of course the famous apes, which live in a semi-wild state around the "the Rock", as the steep rocky summit which occupies most of the peninsula is called.
