Finding a Wedding Venue in Croatia
As well as the hotels listed here, popular locations for weddings include the the Fortress Lovrijenac, the Sponza Palace and Rectors Palace, all in Dubrovnik.
However holding a wedding in any of these venues will mean hiring outside caterers and some will not rent their premises other than to a company registered in Croatia. So if you wish to use one, your best bet is to contact one of the wedding planning companies in Croatia listed here.
The Regent Esplanade, Zagreb
With its exuberant Art Nouveau architecture and cherished place at the centre of Zagreb social life, this long established hotel is practiced at running elegant events. It is ideally situated close to the old town.
There is an in-house wedding planner to assist with all arrangements and the available reception rooms are all wonderfully decorated and full of atmosphere. The best is the Emerald Ballroom, with its soaring, dome-shaped roof and arched windows which can seat up to 180 for dinner.
The Grande Villa Argentina, Dubrovnik
A complex comprising a modern hotel and 4 villas located within a short walk of old Dubrovnik with views over the harbour, this is at the extreme luxury end of the market. Weddings can be held on the terrace, overlooking the sea or in one of the hotels luxurious restaurants.
The real star here though is the Villa Scheherazade. With 5 opulent bedrooms, a huge terrace and a beautiful reception room, this is THE place to hold a small private wedding that will be truly memorable.
Hotel Jezero, Plitvice Lakes National Park
The location here is amazing - beautiful lakes, caves, waterfalls and forests which are home to bears, wolves and many rare bird species. The Hotel Jezaro is a modern building sensitively built in the centre of woodland close to a lake.
This is not a high-end luxury option - rooms are fairly plain, though comfortable - but the service is excellent, staff extremely friendly and it is a great location for a really different wedding. And its great value!
The Dubrovnik Palace, Dubrovnik
Situated a couple of miles up the coast from central Dubrovnik, this is a large modern hotel but a very good one, offering an excellent service to couples coming to Croatia to get married. As well as extensive leisure facilities, including a scuba diving centre, there is a great night club on site and an excellent spa and beauty centre.
The in-house wedding planner will pretty much organise everything for you and they are happy to put together packages for wedding parties of all sizes.
Alternatives to Hotels
Yacht Charter
They don't make much mention of it on their website, but Yacht Charter Croatia can arrange for a wedding reception aboard a fully staffed yacht sailing the Adriatic.
You can choose from a motor yacht or a sailing boat and they are available for guest numbers up to about 12. You could even hire a yacht for a few days and make a real party of it!
